Finally today is the day I ask out Emerald. I guess I was cutting it close, but so was Talon. Talon was my best friend who constantly seemed to pop up out of nowhere. I was going to meet Emerald in the auditorium according to the anonymous note I put in her locker.
I stopped by the bathroom to check my hair and wash my face. That was when Talon seemed to appear.
“Have you asked yet?” he said teasingly.
"Shut up” I said smiling.
“You missed a spot” he said.
I grinned, turned, and threw a blade in his direction. I missed, I always did. He always seemed to get out of the way in an instant he was too fast.
“I’ve got to ask now before I'm late.” I said still grinning.
He glared at me for a few seconds then burst out laughing. I ran to the auditorium and burst through the doors just in the nick of time. She was just getting ready to leave.
“Hey wait” I yelled as I ran.
“Yeah?” she asked once I caught up with her.
Oh, gosh she was beautiful.
“Would you go to the Valentines dance with me?” I asked after a few minutes of heavy panting.
“Well I was actually supposed to meet someone here about,” She looked at her watch, “ten minutes ago” she finished.
“I know; I put that note in your locker because I want to be your boyfriend.”
Did I actually just say that? Man she must think I am a total dork now.
She’ll say no for sure. It was then that I could have gotten into big trouble if it hadn’t been for another of my friends.
I heard Talon wolf whistle and I turned threw a knife and it went 3 inches above the head of the principal! “Dang,” I said “always a little high”. Emerald laughed. Recovering from her shock and snapping me out of mine. I thought I was expelled for sure but that was when the last thing I expected happened.
“What’d I miss?” Kara asked bursting through the door. She always acted like a spaz. Although you never want to get in a fight with her, you would lose hands down because that is when she got serious.
“Um actually it’s what you didn’t miss, and thank you.” I replied.
“What?’ she asked confused.
“Come in and close the door.” I said to her. So she cautiously walked in but when she closed the door the principal collapsed from behind it.
“Oh oops” she said then she looked at me then at emerald. “What?” she asked then before I could answer she looked at the knife “Hey look a sharp!” she said as she grabbed it out of the door and started playing with it. I cleared my throat. “What?” she jumped.”
“How exactly did you know you missed something?” I asked.
“Well its hard not to know when you are leaning against the door to the auditorium and a knife go through it.” She said. She was exasperated that I seemed like an idiot.
I opened and closed my mouth several times trying to find some intelligent thing to say. I finally gave up and said “Good point”.
Kara was about to say something back when Emerald interrupted. “We should get going, the dance starts in about four hours and I need to change into my dress,” she paused then continued “plus I don’t want to be here when the principal comes to, after all who knows how mad she will be”.
“She has a point.” I heard as Talon got up out of a seat in the back row. We all looked at each other and nodded.
We started running out of here when I stopped and turned to emerald and said “So ill pick you up at five” She nodded and we ran out the door as the principal started to gain consciousness.






I was ready in my suit but I had to pick emerald up in ten minutes. I ran past my parents before they could complain about me going and not even eating anything. When I got to the garage I jumped on my motorcycle and drove down the street.
When I got to emeralds house I thought I saw a man on the roof. When I looked again, however, he was gone. I walked up to the door but a dog ran up to it and started barking at me from the inside of the house before I even had the chance to knock. A few seconds later someone answered.
“Who are you?” she asked me. All I could do is stand there and stare at the pit-bull. “Well are you going to answer me or are you just going to stand there?” she said
“Oh sorry this must be the wrong address” I said to her still staring at the dog.
“Yeah you think?” she said as she rolled her eyes. The next thing I saw though had surprised me. I saw someone at the top of the stairway.
“Sis quit bothering my boyfriend” I heard. It took me a minute to register what she said. It was emerald! Her sister looked me over then her eyes jerked past me. When she looked at me again she looked different somewhat hungry. Then she left and dragged the dog along behind her. “Shall we go?” She asked me.
“Sure if you’re ready.” I said. When I turned my attention to her I swear my jaw dropped about a hundred feet. She was wearing a dress that was a crimson red and its elegance would make you think this was prom and not just some valentines dance.
“Yeah I’m ready.” She said but I didn’t move. I felt like I was hypnotized by the dress and it was glowing so much it would make anyone think she was an angel in red. Then I looked at her face, took her hand and led her across the lawn to find my motorcycle gone!


Chapter 3
I couldn’t believe it! My motorcycle was gone and in its place was a limo! I was only gone for ten minutes! But emerald either didn’t notice or didn’t care about my amazement and confusion. She just wrapped her arms around me and kissed me. I just kissed her back, it was all I could do but that one kiss was one I wanted to have last forever. About five seconds later, however, the horn honked! We both jumped and looked at the car
